Heute ging es als erstes zu der wohl best bekanntesten Adresse der USA, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Leider wird momomentan der Zaun erneuert. o_O

Aber man kann das Weiße Haus ja auch von der anderen Seite anschauen.

Von hier aus ging es in die “National Mall” die ihrem Namen getreu eine schone Parkanlage mit einigen Denkmälern ist.

So gibt es das bekannte Lincoln Denkmal.

Das hinüber zum Washington Monumet blickt.

Dazwischen gibt es noch eine Inschrift, an dem Ort, an dem Martin Luther King Jr. seine legendäre Rede gehalten hat.

Zudem führt der Weg von Lincoln zu Washington an dem relativ neuen, Eröffnung in 2004, Zweiten Welt Kriegs Denkmal vorbei.

Hinter dem Washington Monument, dass bei seiner Fertigstellung das höchste Gebäude der Welt war, ging es dann zum “Capitol Building”.

Von dort, da es auf einem Hügel gelegen ist, hatte man einen schönen Blick bis hin zum Lincoln Memorial.

Bis dahin hatten wir dann schon 9 Kilometer zu Fuß zurück gelegt. Also haben wir uns wieder in die Ubahn begeben und sind noch kurz am Größten Bürogebäude der Welt vorbei gegangen. Leider darf man dort keine Fotos machen :/.

Morgen geht es dann wieder Richtig New York zurück.

Am Rande haben wir ein Desaster mitbekommen, den Versuch der Amerikaner eine Rettungsgasse zu bilden…

Washington the second time

Today we headed to the most famous Address of the USA, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Sadly the fence is being renewed. o_O

But you can also see the White House from another side.

From here we headed into the “National Mall” which, as the name suggests, is a beautiful park with a lot of Memorials.

One is the famous Lincoln Memorial.

Which watches the Washington Monument.

In between is a inscription at the place where Martin Luther King Jr. held his legendary speech.

The way from Lincoln to Washington goes past the quite new, the opening was in 2004, 2nd World War Memorial.

Behind the Washington Monument, which was the tallest building in the world at it’s completion, the Park goes towards the “Capitol Building”.

From here, since it was build on a hill, you have quite the view, all the way back to the Lincoln Memorial.

Up to here we walked for 9 Kilometers, so we went back into the metro. After a quick stop at the largest Office Building in the world, where you aren’t allowed to take pictures :/, we went back to the Hotel.

Tomorrow we are heading back towards New York.

On a side not we witnessed a desater, Americans trying to create a rescue alley…
